James X. Wang
Sound Designer | Audio Technician | Musician
Hi, my name is James and I am a sound designer from Vancouver, Canada. As of March 2025, I am undertaking contract work in Asia for an upcoming animated feature film as a sound designer and audio editor. In 2024, I completed a diploma program on Sound Design for Visual Media at Vancouver Film School. I further specialize in technical sound design for video games as well as ADR (automated dialogue replacement) recording and editing.
With a background of applied music technology and live performance, I have had the opportunity to continuously work with music-related tech products at live music events around Vancouver. I also have additional experience in translation & localization, as well as an academic background in East Asian history, international relations, and cross-cultural research at the University of British Columbia. With over 12 years of experience living in both North America and East Asia, I am dedicated to helping myself and others deepen our understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives.
Most of my free time is spent cycling or reading, learning new skills, and exploring new music/audio, particularly in video games. Virtually anything related to arts, design, sports, and history will pique my interest.
I hope to connect with other professionals in the technical sound industry, as well as those who share a passion for music, cultural studies and technical sound design. For information on my latest projects, feel free to explore my portfolio page.
